- Meet new rideshare partner(s) before your first commute.
- Discuss preferences like seating arrangements, music, eating, cell phone usage, and smoking.
- Set up a probationary period to try out the arrangement.
- Provide information about your rideshare partner(s) to someone else in case of emergency.
- Create an equitable driving and cost arrangement.
- Be punctual.
- Do something meaningful with the $2,520 you save.

Ridesharing reduces gasoline usage, vehicle wear, traffic, stress, pollution, and dependency on foreign oil. With every 100 people who pair up daily and rideshare for a year, we keep 1,848 pounds of hydrocarbons, 1,320 pounds of carbon monoxide, 792 pounds of nitrogen oxides, and 2,376,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere. You might even make a friend or two.

Love Every Monday Matters! Thoughts regarding ridesharing: ask your company about video conferencing. Video is here and available corporate wide for everyone – from the boardroom to the virtual office. Company’s are looking for ways to reduce their overall spending budgets – why not look at travel? Saves time and money while helping to reduce our carbon ommissions. Go green and use video!
I find that I’ve replaced driving with walking. On the weekends, I rarely take my car out. I’m fortunate to be able to walk into town to grocery shop, pick-up fruit & veggies at the farmer’s market, eat out, or even be entertained.
To piggyback on what Jill wrote, my company is saving over $500,000 this year in hotel expense, meals, and mileage by training employees using distance learning — taking video conferencing to the next level. That’s a lot of cars off the road — saving time and gas.
I rarely take my car out of the garage on the weekends. I’m fortunate to live in a town that I can walk to the grocery store, farmer’s market, eat out, or even watch live entertainment.
I just started an official 9/80 work week and close my offices every other Friday. Employees save in gas and get a 3-day weekend every other week. Our company saves energy by not having lights, air conditioning, and computers running. It’s a win-win.
I showed proof of productivity and convinced my boss to let me work at home 2 days a week.
