I just started an official 9/80 work week and close my offices every other Friday. Employees save in gas and get a 3-day weekend every other week. Our company saves energy by not having lights, air conditioning, and computers running. It's a win-win.

I rarely take my car out of the garage on the weekends. I'm fortunate to live in a town that I can walk to the grocery store, farmer's market, eat out, or even watch live entertainment.

To piggyback on what Jill wrote, my company is saving over $500,000 this year in hotel expense, meals, and mileage by training employees using distance learning -- taking video conferencing to the next level. That's a lot of cars off the road -- saving time and gas.

I find that I've replaced driving with walking. On the weekends, I rarely take my car out. I'm fortunate to be able to walk into town to grocery shop, pick-up fruit & veggies at the farmer's market, eat out, or even be entertained.

Love Every Monday Matters! Thoughts regarding ridesharing: ask your company about video conferencing. Video is here and available corporate wide for everyone - from the boardroom to the virtual office. Company's are looking for ways to reduce their overall spending budgets - why not look at travel? Saves time and money while helping to reduce our carbon ommissions. Go green and use video!
