I can sort of relate, Willow. My veins do not cooperate at all. I have tried to donate three times and every time they have had to stick me repeatedly, without luck. The first time, they finally hit a vein but it drained so slowly, they just unhooked it and sent me on my way.

Some other suggestions: Go to your local Red Cross to see when/where the closest blood drive would be & volunteer your services in other ways. You could also become an advocate and spread the word about the importance of blood donations. Maybe the Red Cross could give you flyers/posters to hand out, as well.

Although I am not at all disciplined, I have found that making exercise fun is one of the best ways to stick with it. It has to be something you want to do, rather than feel you have to do. If you're an outdoors person like me, try hiking, climbing trees, running barefoot through a field, throwing stones, jumping cliffs (be careful). If you have kids, let them join in the fun. Let them help you with your exercise (piggy-back rides are always welcome). Have fun, because all the exercise in the world will not help if you are unhealthy because you are unhappy.

So many great books out there, this one should not be a problem for anyone. If time is an issue, grab a collection of humorous essays, like something by David Sedaris. You can also choose a book with short chapters to make it easier to read in brief moments of down time. There are also a lot of great "easy reads" by talented authors such as Elmore Leonard and Stephen King.

Why hasn't anyone commented on this yet? It could be you at any time, with the unemployment rate and cost of living increasing all over the country. Treat homeless people the way you would hope to be treated if you were in their shoes.
