EMM AND E&J GALLO WINES HIT THE COMMUNITY
November 12, 2008
Due to the many emails we have received from companies and employees, we have put together a corporate social awareness program. It is a one day event that focuses on team building through making a difference.
Last week, we spent a full day with the marketing team from E&J Gallo Wines up in Napa, CA. The day started with a 45 minute talk from me, Matthew Emerzian, about the importance of being socially aware, both as a company and as individuals. We then had 6 local Napa non-profits stand up and share with the 60 Gallo executives what they do. We had directors from the Napa Valley Food Bank, the Rianda Elderly Home, The Napa Humane Society, Future Farmers of America, Red Cross, and an after-school program for at risk youth. We all learned quite a bit from what they had to say.
Following their brief descriptions, we divided the Gallo employees up into 6 teams of 10. They then had 4 hours to go help their assigned non-profit further advance their cause. We watched them pile into their team vans and drive away to get to work.
We were blown away by what happened next…weed pulling, window washing, food sorting, marketing plan creating, party decorating, lego sorting, storage organizing, etc. The list goes on and on. Stay tuned for some video we shot and photos we took.
We just want to thank all of the non-profits for letting us work with them, as well as the 60 Gallo execs who weren’t afraid to get dirty and roll up their sleeves in the spirit of making a difference.
You all matter.
