HEALING HUNTER – THE POWER OF POSITIVE WORDS
January 19, 2009

This news comes with a heavy heart, but we feel it is something we need and want to share with our EMM family. Hunter needs us.
Most of you remember little Hunter. Hunter was diagnosed with AML Leukemia when he was just a newborn. If you recall, our very first Los Angeles book signing was also a “Party with a Purpose” for Hunter and another beautiful girl named Brittany, both stricken with cancer. You came out and showed your support for these two children and you touched a lot of people’s hearts in doing so.
In September, Hunter celebrated his 2nd birthday and seemed to be victorious in his battle with cancer. Sadly, we were just informed today that his battle continues as his cancer has relapsed. Doctors have determined that 45% of his bone marrow has been infected with Leukemia.
In an email, his mom wrote:
We are asking everyone to think and feel and send as much love and energy our way that you possibly can. I believe it truly helps in the healing process. We are frightened to death, but confident he’ll get through this. The statistics state that he has a 56% chance of surviving and there is not a reason in the world that Hunter isn’t going to be one that survives! He’s a fighter.
Sending all of our love,
Lenore, Zen and Hunter
PLEASE TAKE A FEW MOMENTS TO POST A NOTE BELOW TO HUNTER AND HIS FAMILY. THEY DID NOT ASK FOR US TO DO THIS – WE DID IT ON OUR OWN. BUT WE FEEL THAT THE LEAST WE CAN DO IS OFFER THEM AS MANY WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT AS WE CAN. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE AND PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. YOU MATTER.

You and Zen and Hunter take my breath away. There are no words. So I breathe sending good energy and prayers your way. And I know Hunter is inhaling.
Your courage will get you all through this.

Hi Hunter, Zen and Lenore,
I just wanted to send you tons of love, kisses and strength. Your positive attitude and amazing strength is what is going to beat this disease. You are such an inspiration! I love you guys and think of you every day.

Our hopes and prayers are with Hunter and the whole family.
God is good and he will never let His children suffer more than they can bare. Even when we don’t believe this or have no understanding of how much is too much, just remember God will deliver Hunter and his family from all the pain and suffering they’re experiencing. I pray for healing of ailments, emotional, and that we as a family believe that God is still in control. It is not finished until He says it is finished. God bless this family.
Whats up, guys? we’ ve been thinking about all of you. this trip was an epiphany. you two amaze me us. Write back to me Zen, i know it would be easier than calling. Keep in touch. Pete
We are sending the entire family love, healing, and hope. You are such an amazing family and your love for one another is evident. Keep believing….there are so many people praying for you and pulling for you. Hunter is a SPECIAL little boy and so lucky to have parents like you!
Hi Lenore,Zen and Hunter,
We want you to know that we are always thinking about Hunter and we’re hoping and
praying for his well being and for yours. As a mother of a bone marrow transplant
patient, I know the suffering and pain this disease can bring. But one thing I have learned is that it’s not easy and it’s difficult especially being in your
position. Nobody can have the right words to take the pain away because it’s your pain and you internalize your child’s pain. But you guys are doing what every loving parent would do, that is to fight, to plead, to love and to never give up on your child, no matter what. We love Hunter and so many people right now
know his story and they are thinking about him.
Hunter, I know these upcoming days will be tough as you get ready for your transplant. You are in our thoughts and prayers daily. God can heal you and give you strength to endure. He has given you wonderful parents who love you more than anything and are doing all in their power to comfort you, fight for you …. whatever it takes to see you conquer this bad villain, cancer. Hang in there little guy, soon you’ll be playing in the sand, running around kicking soccer balls, off to kindergarten, and before you know it, all your struggles will be a distant memory as you go on living life to the fullest.
Dear Hunter, Lenore and Zen,
You don’t know me – I am a friend of Kelly Keebler’s (she played volleyball at USC with my sister). She sent me your blog and I felt compelled to write – I am currently battling pancreatic cancer so I know the cancer road – I am at Mayo Clinic and when I see the little ones come for radiation it just breaks my heart -It really puts things in perspective for us “grown ups”. I have lifted Hunter up in prayer during my radiation treatments since I learned of his illness. Was thrilled to learn the cancer is gone for now and you are ready to proceed with a transplant – Some dear friends of ours are currently walking this road with their 11 year old son who received a bone marrow transplant this past September – He had some rough days, though is home now and doing great!!! Prayer and postive thinking is powerful and healing – After reading your blog I know you have both – Keep the faith and praise God with all news – God Bless Hunter – Barb
Dear Hunter, Zen, & Lenore,
When times like these happen and it feels as if there is too much pain to handle, it always helps me to remember that God, our Heavenly Father, never allows anything to happen to his children that they cannot handle. This fact may not seem understandable at times, because trials may seem too much, but if you stay positive, have faith, and continue to share the unconditional love you have together as a family, God will always take care of you. He loves his children, and Hunter, Zen, and Lenore, you are His Children. He knows even when the smallest sparrow falls, so he is very aware of what you all are going through. Find comfort in Him, and may peace and hope and love continue to be with you all during this time.
God bless Hunter and your family!
Much Love and Prayers,
Pamela
someone remembers, and somebody cares,
your name is whispered in somebody’s prayers .
keep the bright hope of the future in view,
someone is thinking of you .
Sending you blessings of healing to Hunter and family. None of this is easy, and I know from personal experiences that it doesnt make sense, but keep your faith strong. Don’t ever give up. Live in each moment and give lots and lots of kisses. I’ll keep you all in my prayers.
God Bless
-Marie

Hunter, you will be in my prayers. But always remember you are in God’s hands…he has your future planned out for you and I am sure that it is going to be a bright one. God loves each and everyone of us more than anyone could know. And Debby (from previous message) is absolutely right; just look at cancer as a bad villain on a Saturday morning cartoon. Once you defeat him you will be fine. Just keep holding on okay? Everyone is praying for you..you’ll be okay.
Good luck Hunter, and may God Bless you,
Ty
I hope that you get well soon Hunter. I will pray for you and keep you in my thoughts. I will also keep you his family in my prayers as I know how it is to watch a small child, or any one for that matter, go through cancer. My best of wishes and my love to Hunter and his family. May God be with you.
You all are so strong as individuals and a family. You are truly inspirational. Our prayers are with you daily. Your NY cousins want so much to meet you so get well soon.
Love,
Tesla, Bryce, Cheryl and Keith
Dear Hunter, Lenore, & Zen, My prayers and thoughts are with you. Living with cancer can not be an easy thing, but I feel very strongly that prayer will help Hunter get the bone marrow transplant that you need. God will guide you and your family thru this battle and you will win. Please keep the faith. You must stay positive and have positive thoughts. God will send his Angels to watch over you and keep you safe until your transplant is complete. Blessings and love to all of you! Take care of yourself and remember, there are so many people out there praying for you and sending well wishes your way. Much Love, Deb
Dear Hunter and Family,
Hi guys , I just read your recent entries and saw recent pictures of Hunter.
I have been praying for him and he’s always on my mind. As a mother of a child
who’s been through a BMT and survived, I want you all to know how special your
little boy is. As I’m sure you already know, he’s my little angel of inspiration
and seeing his face and understanding what he goes through on a daily basis
truly aches my heart but rejoices my soul at the same time. I am amazed at
Hunter’s strength and his will to live and conquer. He will always be my inspiration and I hope oneday when he’s better and older I can tell him in person what a Hero he really is.
Sincerely,
Tina LeRaybaud ( Natalie’s mom)

Hey, Hunter, I just love the picture I saw of you in your very cool helmet. What a great job you are doing with all your tests and treatments! How proud you must feel to be such an inspiration to all of us.
When you have a hard day, please try to remember that you have a whole team of cheerleaders who are always with you even if you can’t see us.
Are you planning to be a football player when you grow up? I can’t wait to see you then, whatever you become…..we already know it will be someone great (and really cool)!
Three cheers and lots of hugs,
Debbie
Hunter,
I hope you are doing well. I pray for you every night I remember which is basically all the time. You are such a brave heart to go through all you have gone thru. Keep fighting….
Lots of Love,
H.
May the Lord breathe fresh pure air into your body everyday to heal you and strengthen your spirit. We pray our energy is sent your way and blankets you with all the protection and healing love that is Heavenly possible. You definately have a prayer chain going and it will get longer and longer. God bless you and your family.

Your family is beautiful. Your story is so heartbreaking, but also so inspiring. With four small children, I cannont imagine what you are going through. You have helped to remind me to cherish every minute I have with them and try not to let the little stuff get to me. You have inspired them to be more thankful for what they have and they will be sending Hunter some pictures they made (through Cyndi D’Avignon-Parker). We will be praying for you and hoping Hunter is feeling better again soon.
Beautiful Hunter:
I am going to be praying, wishing, hoping, everything I can think of that might give you even a bit of strength more to keep on fighting, the way you have been. You are amazing, there should be a new word invented for how strong you are.
You are one little boy who is so loved by his mom and dad. You are lucky, blessed to have this love. Some children never see any of this, even when they live to be 100! But, you’ve had more love and kisses and hugs in 2 1/2 years..they’ll last you forever! I know your parents will be celebrating having you in their lives today with more bites to your little neck, and snuggles to your little chest, pinching of your little cheeks…you have a lot of love coming to you from all over the universe, and I hope this gives you strength to keep on being strong. Who would have ever guessed that a little boy like you would be able to do things that some grown ups can’t even do??? YOU are my superhero! ANd I only believe in heroes that are real.
Hunter=superhero
Go, fight, win!
To Hunter,
Hey hunny, how ya doin’? Hope you’re feeling better! (:
Don’t be scared, be strong and look forward to the future! Enjoy every possible minute of life that you can. There are a lot of people who want to help you and are helping you, your life is precious and is being fought for every second. Stay strong little man! (:
Lenore and Zen,
Hunter truly is a superhero! He is so courageous, and seemingly fearless in the face of so much adversity. I don’t know if I would have a fraction of his strength if I were in his place. He inspires me to never give up, no matter what odds may be against me, no matter what monsters may lurk around the corner. The world is truly a better place for having Hunter in it, no matter how brief his time may be here on this earth.
Your beautiful little family has been an inspiration to everyone who has heard your story. I can’t begin to imagine the pain you are going through and I know that there are no words that will ease your pain.
I want you both to know that if you have done anything these past three years you have proven the power of love. Your love is what gave Hunter his strength, love is what made your family what it is, love is what gave you so much joy despite all your suffering. You both have proven how strong your love is for your son and for each other. Without that love, you wouldn’t have touch all the lives that you have, you wouldn’t have this endless sea of love and prays that are washing over you from everyone who has been blessed enough to have heard about Hunter. Your love has kept Hunter going and going and that same love WILL keep you and Zen going. Please remember, you are NEVER alone! We are all sending our love across the universe to you, and always to Hunter.
Much love and many prays,
Lisa

I am praying for your family. I wish all of you the best of memories and good times shared. Hunter, you are such a strong and courageous little boy. Mom and Dad, you both have amazing strength too and I know deep down that you will always live for Hunter in everything that you do. You will bring awareness to this form of cancer. Big hugs and a lot of support go out to all of you. Good luck with this journey.
Sending positive thoughts, prayers and love to Hunter and his family…keep fighting!!!
Hi Hunter,
I think you are an amazing guy! Cancer is frustrating, and don’t forget that you are allowed to be sad. Just keep fighting it and never forget how to smile.
Hi Mom and Dad,
You guys are great! The caretakers of cancer patients are truly amazing people. Remember that it’s not bad to ask for help, in fact, people want to help but they often have no idea of what to do. And also, be proud of your little guy!
xoxo
To Hunter and his family,
Love to you all. I know you will get through this. Your future will be beautiful.
Best wishes to Hunter and family. Hunter, I truly wish you well, little fellow, and all the positive energy that you need on your journey to wellness, to grow up strong, healthy and happy. You and your family are in my prayers tonight. From Kylie.xox
