Educational Curriculum
Children are our future. Our today and tomorrow. And they spend more hours with you – the school administrators, directors, and teachers, than they do with their own parents. This is a lot of responsibility and it is also an amazing opportunity. An opportunity to create, mold, sculpt, influence, and foster our student leaders to ensure a future that is limitless for generations to come. The YOU MATTER Curriculum was created to help you help your students become the leaders our schools, families, and communities need.
THE GOAL
The YOU MATTER Curriculum was written for and in collaboration with K-12 teachers, administrators, and students to create an experiential, action-oriented program that focuses on empowering kids to get involved in making a difference in the world. KIDS MATTER. They have an unbridled ability to influence positive change from a peer-level to a city-level and beyond. We just need to provide the foundation upon which they can grow. Therefore, we created a hands-on, service-learning curriculum that involves all of the required standards and specifically creates awareness, generates change and results, and actively empowers kids to become the natural-born social leaders they already are.

Through this program, our students have learned how to actively make a difference in their school and the community, while learning academically about different ways to present their findings and report how they can make changes. YOU MATTER has given the students an opportunity to be the first-hand action in making a change. Staff has found the curriculum fun and engaging. Students feel that what they are doing really MATTERS! Nora Hana, M.A. Ed., Coordinator
San Joaquin County Office of Edu.
Our students look forward to Mondays now, so they can work on their projects. I am seeing formerly apathetic students become empowered leaders who are focused on making a difference. Incredible.
Claire Patereau, Coordinator Yolo Middle After-School Programs
The results our schools are getting with this curriculum are amazing. It is one of the best purchases I have made for my schools. It has impacted the culture of our schools and our administration. Lori Ward, Director II Stanislaus County Office of Edu.
I really think that my school should get involved in this program; I go to Michael E. Smith Middle School. I think it would be just wonderful. I love the book, and I think it would make a great difference on everyone; staff and students alike. I really should talk to my principal about this, but there is just never any time during the day. I will try to talk to her, but in the meantime I’ll just do things from the book.
