The real secret to living is giving. Every Monday Matters goes beyond today’s self-help hype of knowing what you want and how to get it to knowing what you have and how to give it. Feeling good about yourself is great. Doing good is even better. Don’t let another Monday go to waste. Make it matter!
Finally a cool, hip and easy guide for making a difference. There are so many compelling reasons why Every Monday Matters will have a huge impact on today’s culture. The movement transcends all media platforms. The clients I work with will find Every Monday Matters unique because it’s clear, easy, and will provide weekly exposure. For their audiences, Every Monday Matters helps them get started now…and, continue making a difference every Monday. That’s powerful!

Every Monday Matters is an exciting vision of mobilizing a massive number of people to tackle the many critical issues facing us today. For me, the particular cause is not important. What is important is that we all make it our responsibility to do something. And, I am always in favor of doing anything to improve Mondays.

American needs content like ‘Every Monday Matters’ on its television sets. If this doesn’t end up on Oprah, I’ll be shocked.

Every Monday Matters is a wonderful tool for implementing character education. These opportunities for teenagers to give back to the community and impact other people’s lives will be of great value to them throughout their own lives. A curricular component could be easily adapted which creates opportunities for alternative as well as mainstream education. Starting the week with a Monday that’s more meaningful would launch every week in the right direction.

Cities are made up of smaller communities. Those communities are made up of city blocks. And city blocks are made up of families and individuals. Every Monday Matters helps us all to understand and embrace just how much power we have when we engage in tangible acts of service. By doing so, it makes our blocks, neighborhoods and cities better places to live and raise our families.

I’ve spent 26 years working to make a difference at the grass roots level, often dreaming of a world that is fair, safe for kids and connected. Then I wake up, wondering, “Who else out there cares”? Every Monday Matters shows us how everyone can care – and joyfully make that world ours.

I’ve come to a time in my life in which I have shifted away from focusing on myself, my wants, and my needs. Turning my focus outward to the world around me is important to my growth, but the question was “how should I go about this?” This book tells JUST that. I love the concept, which is 52 ways to CONTRIBUTE to the world. To GET INVOLVED. The ways are very thoughtful, which will challenge me to complete some of them, and I am SURE that at the end of the 52 mondays, I will have positively contributed to the world around me, and feel outstanding about myself and the contribution I will have made. Get this book and join the movement!
This is the way big change happens – little-by-little, person-by-person. What a great idea. I’m giving this book to all my family for Christmas. May it be a best seller and help create a better world for all of us to inhabit. Thank you for taking the initiative and time to write this most important little guide to responsible living.
This is an original, thought-provoking, and action-inducing book. I have given it to friends and family in hopes that each will do a portion of the recommended ways to make each and every life matter.
A great book on how many people feel, like they want to do more but are overwhelmed when thinking of how they can put their feelings into actions. This book gives simple steps on how to make a difference locally and globally. By taking one day a week to focus on making the change it is neither overwhelming or complicated. My three boys and I are taking each Monday as they come and through this book and our actions they can grow up with more of a sense of self, community and unity.
What a phenominal book! Finally somebody decided that it wasn’t good enough to simply write a book about what you SHOULD do, instead Every Monday Matters tells us what TO do in a helpful way, then challenges us to MAKE A DIFFERENCE by doing it. And it’s presented in a way that not only makes sense as to the WHY, it also leads you by the hand to help you engage others along the way. I am using this as a way for our Christian Men’s Group to take our outreach to the next level in our community, regardless of faith or religious perspective. A common sense way to make it happen! And making me actually look forward to my Mondays each week is a bonus! Thanks!
I LOVE this book! My family and I are going to make this an integral part of 2008. This is a terrific way to introduce kids to world issues and how they can be a part of making a difference. I hope this catches on and becomes a movement around the world. We really need this right now. You can hear a fabulous interview with co-author Matthew Emerzian on MommyCast.com Show #268.
This book, Every Monday Matters, is very timely and very interesting. It is such a good reminder on how to make a difference daily in what you do. I loved the book and recommend it highly.
This book was a wonderful Christmas gift. After reading it over the holidays I realised just what I had been missing out on. The authors are quite right in their analysis of human habits. We need to go just a tad that further in thought and deed to make a gigantic difference to other peoples lives as well as our own. Everybody should grab a copy of the book; read it thoroughly and set off making ever monday a happy productive day for everyone and maybe, just maybe it will flow through the whole week.
Congratulations to the authors. They are obviously kind, creative and wonderful human beings.
FINALLY! A book, a movement that helps us slow down, care for each other, and care for ourselves in easy ways that really make a huge difference. Every Monday Matters makes it easy for us all to make a difference. Imagine the power of millions of people doing very accomplishable, easy things that help the lives of others, which will help our own lives as well. This is the beginning of an important culture shift we all need! This book is just the beginning, it will make you think about all the little things that make a significant impact that everyone can do – EVERYONE! It will encourage you to get involved in making a difference, it will bring purpose into your life. A must have for anyone or any organization/group/bible study wanting to get involved in helping others.
This book is inspiring and amazing! It gives you great ideas on how you can help change the world, one Monday at a time! Its great for all those people that love to do community service or want to help out and make the world a better place!
EMM provides practical legs to a heart and body that says, “I want to make a positive difference in the lives of others.” Inspired by this book, a group of my friends are committed this year to monthly efforts to improve the lives of others in simple, concrete ways. Thank you Matt and Kelly for increasing awareness of how to be compassionate and caring.
This book can revolutionize the way that we make a difference in this world. It’s design, having all of us think of ways that we can help others in whatever capacity for whatever cause, opens up opportunities that traditional giving does not. It also calls for action on a weekly basis, not big overwhelming actions, just action. This is a great way to get people moving foward not just waiting for the right thing to come along. The suggested ways to help are also good because again it decreases the reasons for procrastinating.
On the back cover of this Gen X/Y book is the question “Have you made today matter?” It’s a great question because most of us do not even consider this in our daily lives. Then, at the end of the day, we are kept awake at night wondering how we can ever make a difference in a world where so much is wrong.
Well, fear not, because the creators and writers of http://www.everymondaymatters.com have put together a list of 52 activities you can do alone or with your friends and family that will be good for you, your community, and the world. Although some of the tasks require planning and cannot be completed in one day, that leaves no excuse for not beginning the process of a more time-consuming task (#45 Get involved with Foster Kids). Some are so simple they can be done right at your computer (#44 Use Online Bill Pay). Either way, there are enough activities to give anyone a year full of Mondays that matter. As a side issue, if you find, as I have, that there is an activity listed you have already completed, such as #21 Learn CPR, feel free to substitute your own ideas or visit their website for resources and other activities you can do.
Get ready to make a difference one Monday at a time. As a bonus, the book includes a CD-ROM with videos of people making a difference and special links to exclusive portions of their website. The book is even made with recycled materials.
I give this book 5 stars and urge every family to get a copy.
The new personal program found within the pages of “Every Monday Matters” is invaluable. In a society which has become overly concerned with the self, this book sets forth a program for doing something positive for others and for society. I can think of nothing more positive, especially for the youth of America.
Working with Every Monday Matters helped us understand that our work is part of a larger movement of people working together to get others involved in the emergencies around the world. They continually expose us to the invisible problems that surround us, and we feel honored to be a part of their network of friends.

I really like the idea of this book and I think the more people that get a hold of it the better this world will start be. I think to get it getting across to others it should be avertised on tv, radios, etc. me and my boyfriend got the book and are slowly but are trying to make a difference.
I read your book from cover to cover. It was great. In fact, I found it to be truly inspiring. I am a 8th Grade Language Arts teacher and I used the idea of making a difference on a small scale the theme of my last 9 weeks study. I gave the students 30 local topics to choose from, that impacked their lives and the lives of their families. They needed to research, write an essay, make a poster, and give a 5 minute speech based on their topic. It’s been great. I plan to do this every year with all my students. I usually have about 115 I teach daily. I hope I don’t get in trouble with you for stealing a wonderful idea and making it relevant to what my kids understand and see everyday. Thanks for a great lesson.

Matt,
Congratulations to a former student. You continue to be a visionary person who sees the possibilities and has the drive to make them happen.

Every Monday Matters is a really really cool program. My teacher just started doing this and I have to say, it’s pretty cool. I love giving hugs and i mentor some kids that I know. This has to be one of the greatest things ever.!!! I love Every Monday Matters!!!!!!
This book/movement emboddies everything that I stand for. I teach in a High School. On Mondays I play the oldie song “Monday, Monday…so good to me, Monday Morning…” I take that opportunity to charge students for the week. I am also the service learning coordinator for my school. I preach on a daily basis ways that students can make a difference. We have participated in many efforts; Texas Trash Off, Pink Out! Passionately Pink for the Cure, Freedom March, Food Drives, Project Greenway, and more. I stumbled across this book on one of my ventures to the book store. I am soooo very happy that I did. I would very much like to share it with the students at my school. Thank you for your vision!
I read this book and wanted to know so much more on how I can save my country and my planet.
It is such a good book that I recommend it to people who wants to be part of the world.
